I want to be an actor/model... Where should I start?

In two years, I'm going to finish my B.A. in Biology, but I want to start a career in acting/modeling (acting in both theater and in movies and television). Where I live, the industry is very localized and it doesn't really inspire me. I was thinking of moving to L.A. once I graduate (I'm taking both acting courses in my college as electives), but after I get there, where do I start? Will lacking a B.A. in Acting or Theater hurt my chances? Thanks.
