My 21 yr old sister may have Glaucoma? ?

She has really bad eye sight. We went to the Optometrist to get an update on the prescription for our contact lenses and hers is like -10.50 or -11 or -14 or something, I can't remember...it's one of those. The guy said she was extremely nearsighted and the farthest she can see without any gles or contacts is to the tip of her nose. She's scheduled to go visit an ophthalmologist because she's "glaucoma suspect." I'm so worried because she's still so young! Are there lots of treatments that can prevent her from losing her sight for decades and decades? It's ridiculous.
