Can dental flippers be used for more than missing teeth?

i have dental fluorosis on my teeth, which i am very self conscious about. i will be getting dental veneers in june. i was watching this beauty pageant show, and found out about dental flippers. they kinda resemble veneers, and i just googled it and stuff. i noticed that it says it should be used for missing teeth etc. just wondering if i could get them while i wait for the veneers ?
